The charismatic puffins arrive in Iceland in April and depart at the end of August. Near Reykjavik you can find two puffin islands, Akurey and Lundey.
During the breeding season tours stop by one of the two islands. It depends on the tide which of the colonies we'll sail to, but they are both inhabited by thousands of puffins. The boats get very close - providing an excellent photo opportunity for our passengers. Around the islands you might also spot other birds like eider ducks, black guillemots and cormorants.
The charismatic birds live on the North-Atlantic ocean during the winter and do not arrive at the puffin colonies until the beginning of the breeding season. The puffin lays one egg per year, and keeps the same mate every season. Rearing the chick is shared by both puffin parents. Puffins often live 20 years or more.
