Preview textToday we enjoyed multiple encounters with active humpback whales, showing off fluke dives, pectoral slaps and surface rolls. Playful pods of white-beaked dolphins and elusive harbour porpoises joined us throughout the day, and a shy minke whale also made an appearance. Rain or shine, we had excellent sightings in every direction!

We also spotted calm and feeding white-beaked dolphins, elusive minke whales and swift harbour porpoises throughout the bay. Rain or shine, we had another classic day with all four of our favourite species! Perfect!

What is the best time of year to see whales in Iceland? This is a frequently asked question we get a lot from our passengers when they join our tours. Surprisingly, such a simple question is not so easy to answer. It all relies on food availability at our shores and there are many factors that might influence where and when whales can find it.
As whale watching in Iceland continues to grow, so does the need for ethical practices that protect marine life.
