    Status: RUNNING

    Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: With the temperatures slowly rising to a positive zero and a full boat of people, we bravely sailed to the middle of the Faxafloi bay to try our luck on the afternoon tour. The sun made us feel a bit warmer considering a very cold north-east wind was blowing. We searched the area for a long time and started to have our doubts, when we finally saw a 5 white-beaked dolphin pod about 50 meters from the boat. The encounter was short but sweet and the dolphins disappeared as suddenly as the appeared. Not too long after, we saw another group of dolphins leaping in the air. When we got closer to them there was a sight to be seen. A feeding frenzy that included dolphins and all kinds of birds started and lasted for a solid half an hour before we decided to turn the boat around and head back home. Amazing time at sea!

    Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning we woke up with a nice snow-cover in the mountains around Reykjavik. As we were sailing the wind picked up a bit, coming from the north which meant a cold weather but we were very well prepare with our nice overalls. After a while sailing, we spotted a pod of 2-3 harbour porpoises followed by a flock of kittiwakes. Later on, an elusive minke whale was crossing our path several times. We tried to follow her but it was a bit stochastic and we only had glimpses of her blows and occasionally surfaces. In the way back, another pod of 4-5 harbour porpoises was seen. However, the animals were seen only by few passengers so we decided to offer complimentary tickets. Next time our cetaceans will be more friendly for sure.

Birds seen during our tour: eider duck, long-tailed duck, common raven, redwing, black guillemot, black-legged kittiwake, black-headed gull, northern fulmar, great black-backed gull, lesser black-backed gull, herring gull, northern gannet.

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. Sea conditions could be a bit choppy so if you're sensitive to sea sickness, we do have complimentary sea sickness tablets at the ticket office and on the boat. All our boats have inside and outside areas and to make the tour even more comfortable we provide warm overalls. Hope you will be able to join us today!
