Tour at 17:00

We sailed out again, and soon came to the area where we have had plenty of Minke whales, and sure enough, they were still there. We observed the Minke whales for a while before heading further out. As we were sailing we spotted a breaching Minke whale in the distance, but it was too far away for us to see it properly. Quite far out we spotted a big blow so we headed towards it and found a Humpback whale, which was travelling very fast. We stayed with it for a while before we had to head back to the harbour. On the way back we were quickly able to observe a small group of white-beaked dolphins. Another successful trip ;-)

Hafsúlan: Both boats went out this afternoon and both had a great trip. On Hafsúlan we first spotted some Minke whales, almost everywhere we looked we saw Minke whales surfacing in the distance! We soon spotted a big blow and found a Humpback whale! After watching this individual for a while we headed on and soon found another Humpback whale! It was great to watch, surfacing twice almost touching the boat, less than 1 metre away from us, so we all got a great look at the whale! When we turned the boat back towards the harbour, the Humpback whale breached behind us, but unfortunately we just saw the big splash as the whale landed. We turned the boat back towards the Humpback, and it was slapping its tail on the surface. A very enjoyable trip!

This morning we had excellent weather and a very successful tour. We found lots of Minke whales as well as white-beaked dolphins. Lots of puffins in Akurey this morning as well :)
