Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watchingtour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The sky was cloudy, but the waves were calm and the wind was weak. The sea was glass, with no disturbances on the surface which is great for spotting things! So after about 30 minutes into the tour, we found a strange body surfacing near Engey, it was a humpback whale! This was Frodo again, she stayed around for another day. We saw this individual do lots of 10/10 fluke dives as well as a peduncle throw that created a lot of splash while our passenger's eyes were shining from it! It continued it's straight-line mission near the shore so we decided to head out to the middle of the bay. There was a thick cloud of snow catching us and it seemed like the second winter was about to begin but it soon went away. About 45 minutes into our search, we found 7 to 8 harbour porpoises feeding on some nice fish. They were unusually unbothered by us and we could even see them on the surface trying to ride the waves made by the boat. A cool sight with these tiny creatures! We continued our journey to the south but nothing else was seen. We got back to the harbour safe and sound!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Another lucky day out at our bay! As soon as we left the harbour we encountered Frodo, an humpback whale that we have been meeting often lately. We spent sometime with her and then kept sailing trying to find some other individual, but no luck unfortunately. We decided to head back to Frodo and after that the tour was over! Amazing sightings.
