Tour at 17:00

We began by stopping at puffin island Akurey to look at the birds. We didn't have to sail out very far before we spotted a Minke whale, but we saw a big blow in the distance and decided to have a look at this animal. It turned out to be two Humpback whales! They stayed with the boat for over an hour, swimming almost close enough to touch! They were extremely curious and playful, really amazing to observe. Towards the end of this encounter, one of the Humpbacks started swinging its flukes (tail) out of the water. Everyone on board had a great time and some managed to get some great photographs. One of the best trips of the season!!

Another wonderful trip! We spotted all four species of cetaceans which live in our bay! Quite early on we spotted three minke whales, but they didn´t like being watched so we went on. Soon after that we found three other minke whales and stayed with them for a short while until a little group of white-beaked dolphins appeared suddenly. We didn´t have to move much further before another nice group crossed our way: harbour porpoises. A big blow in the distance signalled a humpback whale and so of course we had to sail in its direction. And indeed we found two humpback whales! Both swam very very slowly, they never really went down for a deep dive, and therefore they didn't show their flukes very much. But that didn't matter at all because they came so close to the boat that we could almost touch them.

A little bit windy this morning, but the sea was still quite calm. We spotted around 10-12 Minke whales, everywhere we looked. We sailed a little bit further out and soon spotted a big blow in the distance. We found two Humpback whales, and one of them even breached for us. Excellent trip!
