The eruption that started on 22 August in Reykjanes peninsula, has now ended after 14 days. There are already signs of land rising in the area which could mean anoter eruption soon. Again, we want to emphasise that Iceland continues to be a safe destination for travellers and lights and tours are operating as normal.

A new eruption started last night, 22 August, and the fissure is as of today around 7km in length. While there is a state of emergency declared for that specific area, we want to assure our guests that Iceland continues to remain safe for travellers, flights in and out of the country are not affected and our tours from Reykjavík and Akureyri continue to operate as usual.

The fissure that opened up on 29 May has now closed after 24 days. Scientists are expecting there to be more activity due soon, as the land continues to rise in the area. This is expected to take place in the same vicinity as the previous eruptions, so it would likely not pose a threat to infrastructure or people.

A volcanic fissure has just opened North of Grindavík following a series of seismic events. Fortunately, the town and surrounding areas were evacuated before the eruption began!
Meanwhile, the international airport in Keflavík remains fully operational, as the eruption is localised and does not affect flights to and from Iceland. Our tours are not affected and will continue to operate as usual. We will of course closely follow authorities' guidelines and recommendations.

The volcanic eruption that started on 16 March is has now ended after 54 days. The activity had subsided significantly in the last week or so, although latest calculations implied that there is continuous pressure building up in the magma chamber, which could mean the possibility of another volcanic eruption in the next days or weeks.
We want to stress that travelling to Iceland remains safe. The affected area is confined to the eruption site and does not impact the rest of the country.

Another eruption started North of Grindavík at 20:23 after short seismic activity. Lava began flowing in two directions, one towards Grindarvíkurvegur road to the West and the other reached the previous eruption site to the South.
Again, flights to and from Iceland remain unaffected and all services and excursions continue to operate as normal. This is a localised event and the nearby areas have all been successfully evacuated.

A volcanic eruption started this morning around 06:00, North of Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula. The fissure i about 3 km. long and is located in a similar area as the eruption site in December. It does not appear to be a threat to any major infrastructure or nearby towns.
All services in Iceland continue to operate as normal and flights to and from Iceland remain unaffected by this localised event.
People are advised to stay away from the area, respect road closures and adhere to the commands of local authorities.

A volcanic eruption started on Sunday, 14 January, near Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula. The town had previously been evacuated, and people are not in danger.
The eruption's effects are confined to the town and the immediate area surrounding the eruption site.
All services in Iceland are operating normally and flights to and from Iceland are operating on schedule, and disruption to flight traffic is considered highly unlikely.

Elding wishes to reassure its valued guests that our tours remain unaffected by the recent volcanic eruption on Reykjanes peninsula. As of now, the eruption does not pose a threat to flight traffic, infrastructure or the nearby areas in which our operations are conducted.
As a responsible tour operator, we continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests. Currently, there is no change to our tour schedule, and our operations will continue as usual (weather permitting). We will provide timely updates if any changes occur.
