Subscribe to our Newsletter!
We'd love to send you updates from our team! Subscribe to our newsletter and as a thank you, we would like to offer you a 10% discount off your next Classic Whale Watching tour from Reykjavík.
Elding is a family business and the first to offer whale watching from Reykjavík. With over two decades of experience, we provide responsible wildlife tours, all year round. Our tours range from incentive tours and the ferry to Viðey Island, to seasonal tours such as puffin watching and sea angling in summer and Northern Lights Cruises and Imagine Peace Tours in winter.
Right in the heart of Reykjavík you find Elding's ticket office well positioned at the charming Old Harbour. It has become one of the city's liveliest quarters with its quirky little shops, galleries, restaurants and a range of marine activities. Our boats are conveniently located just a little further down the road to our ticket office. Boarding is through our stationary boat, Fífill, which also serves as a Visitor Center, Wildlife Exhibition, Café and Souvenir Shop.
Enjoy your tour in comfort - our boats are equipped with restrooms, on-board cafés, large viewing windows, big outdoor platforms and all necessary safety equipment. During the tours you can either relax in our indoor saloons or enjoy the view outdoors. To make the tour even more enjoyable, we even provide warm and buoyant overalls as well as rain coats and blankets.
Iceland is a great place for wildlife watching and in Faxaflói bay you'll find a variety of seabirds and marine mammals that feed on the rich feeding grounds provided by ocean currents in the area that create excellent conditions. The long period of light during the summer even provides the right environment for plankton and krill, making it a diverse and abundant bay.
What is the best season to see whales in Iceland? When are the northern lights out in Reykjavík? We get a lot of different questions about our tours, boats and facilities and listed out a few answers to some of our most frequently asked ones!
