Report from Eldey: A partly cloudy sky with some stars shining from in between was above us as we sailed out on our nightly mission. It was fairly windy but we headed straight to our designated spot in shelter near Mt Esja to start the wait for northern lights. The forecast was promising with a good aurora activity level a clear skies. Very unexpectedly, however, it was was getting more and more cloudy instead of them breaking apart, eventually even sprinkling us with light rain. After about 1 hour, we could see a round green patch between clouds on the Northern sky but still so faint it was visible through the camera only. We were getting our hopes up but it quickly faded away after a couple of minutes. Patiently we waited and were giving it time in case it was a teaser for an aurora show starting later but unfortunately no more green hues appeared in the sky. Auroras are out of our control but we want to give our passengers another chance to try to hunt down northern lights and therefore everyone got a complimentary ticket allowing to come on another cruise with us for free within the next two years.
