Few natural phenomena are as mesmerising as the aurora borealis. These shifting curtains of colour sweep across the polar skies, painting them in hues of green, pink, and violet. While their appearance may seem unpredictable, scientists have developed ways to understand when and where they might occur and by studying the activity levels, we can estimate the likelihood of seeing them.
NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00
Report from Eldey: We had some clouds in the sky as e headed out of the harbour but the forecast was optimistic that they would part a little later on. We first stopped at the Imagine Peace Tower to see it lit for the last time this year until New Years! It was also especially poignant because today is the 45th anniversary of John Lennon's death. We then headed to darker areas around Lundey. While we were waiting for the auroras, we could see Jupiter shining brightly through the clouds the whole time. The clouds did start to part a little so we could see more and more stars but unfortunately, the northern lights didn't show up. We offered all our passengers complimentary tickets to come back on another cruise for free and hopefully they'll have better luck!
