Report from Eldey: Today the kp index was a 3 out of 9, meaning moderate magnetic activity. The sky was completely clear and as we saw lots of lights yesterday when the kp index was lower - we were moderately hopeful. We sailed out under clear skies, with lots of stars in the sky with some shooting stars, and even mars was visible. We sailed for over an hour but still had no luck. The captain decided to add some extra time as the conditions were still good. The forecast is just a forecast however and we all know you can never trust an icelandic weather forecast anyways (as it changes constantly). In the end we didnt see any northern lights and handed out complimentary tickets so that everyone can have a chance to come and see them.
