Report from Eldey: The forecast of tonight´s northern lights was promising: the kp-index was predicted to be at a four and there were only some low clouds in the sky. As we sailed out of the harbour we had a hopeful start where we could already see a small area of green lights in front of our boat. The lights did not last long, but throughout the night the clouds cleared up more and more so we were hopeful to see them again. Unfortunately though, although the stars were clearly visible we didnt see any auroras among them for most of the night. Towards the end of the evening, some bright lights started appearing behind a cloudy part of the sky - the most inconvenient location, as that meant that the majority of the show was on display behind the clouds. As it got closer to midnight the clouds grew more dense and we decided to give out complimentary tickets to try our luck on another night.
