Tonight we are expecting an aurora activity of 3/9, N-E 2m/s and -4 °C. The moon is in waxing gibbous phase and 48% illuminated. Partly clouded skies are forecasted in the area.

Report from Elding: We were hopeful with the forecast for this evening as we had high activity and some gaps in the clouds. After leaving the harbour, we made a quick stop at the Imagine Peace Tower and as we were starting to leave and move to darker waters... We saw the backs of 2 humpback whales! An exciting moment on a northern lights tour! We left these whales to feed and focused our efforts on the skies. Soon after we saw faint green northern lights above the glow of Akranes. They were unfortunately only visible for a few minutes before fading away again. We continued our search but the clouds started to close the gaps and we didn't see any more auroras. All our passengers on board were offered complimentary tickets to come again another day for free in hopes of better luck!
