Tonight we are expecting an aurora activity of 3, S 2m/s and 8 °C. The moon is Waxing Gibbous and 20% illuminated. Partly clouded skies are forecast in the area.
Few natural phenomena are as mesmerising as the aurora borealis. These shifting curtains of colour sweep across the polar skies, painting them in hues of green, pink, and violet. While their appearance may seem unpredictable, scientists have developed ways to understand when and where they might occur and by studying the activity levels, we can estimate the likelihood of seeing them.

Report from Elding: This evening we sailed out under slightly cloudy skies. Despite this, we were hopeful that a break in the clouds would allow us a glimpse of the natural beauty of the northern lights. We waited for a while, with occasional calls of the seabirds around us, but unfortunately the green lady did not show herself this evening, so we did not see the northern lights this time. To compensate, we offered our passengers a complimentary ticket to try again on another tour for free, and then made our way back to Reykjavík whilst cozying up in the indoor saloon.
