Report from Hafsulan. A mildly wavy sea, a strong northeastern wind and a crystal clear skies set the scene for tonight's tour. We had barely left the harbour before we could already make out a big band of northern lights across the sky, reaching from Reykjavik's skyline in the south, well beyond mount Esja in the north. While seemingly static at first, we soon realised the subtle changes happening within the lights. The band was thickening and then shrinking, glowing stronger and fading, sometimes splitting into two or even three separate bands. For almost the whole tour we could admire this massive, yet fragile phenomenon. Adding to the magic tonight was the orionid meteor shower, allowing the few lucky people to make out some shooting stars among the night sky.
