Report from Eldey: We had calm sea, starry skies and cloudless climes. The aurora forecast was moderate tonight (3/9). As soon as we left the harbour the northern lights appeared out of nowhere, right over the hilly horizon. It was a turquoise gold band that irradiated the sky. We enjoyed its vivid colors: emerald green, jade and electric blue. The lights grew and waned but the lights were almost always present. We were also delighted by some shooting star irradiating from the constellation Ursa minor, as the ursids meteor shower peaks tonight. As we were returning home the auroras got stronger and we could see them as thrumming waves of energy covering the sky.
