Report from Elding: We decided to sail closer to the coast to be more sheltered from the North wind and guaranteeing a more comfortable ride for our passengers. As usual we headed to the areas where cetaceans are more frequently sighted along the bay. We passed through the place where we had incredible sightings the day before. Unfortunately, though we have put our greatest effort into trying to find the animals out there, it was not possible to see any whales during this tour. This is Nature and it is beyond our control. Sometimes this animals can be quite illusive or move quickly and unpredictably to a differnt area. However, since this tour did not represent the kind of experience Elding is able to provide, all the passengers were offered the opportunity to come back on another whale watching tour, for free. Hope to see them all again soon!

Report from Elding: We left the harbour with a cold Northeast wind, but it didn't stop us to go the highest place in the boat and try to spot our beloved marine inhabitants. We withstood the strong wind and got the chance to see a surfacing minke whale close to the boat. After a few minutes waiting, it seemed this whale was clearly focused on something in another area, moving quickly and not showing itself at the surface for us again. Thus, we decided to go continue our search and see what else the bay had for us. There were a few flocks of birds with the beautiful artic terns within them but, unfortunately, the marine mammals we were looking for, were occupied in their issues. Despite the short sighting, our passengers were cheerful when we offered them complimentary tickets, free of charge, with which we hope to see them again onboard!

Report from Hafsulan: Wake up everybody, the sun is shining! What a beautiful day to be out at sea. Although the winds felt quite cold at times, the suns rays were so strong this morning that they immediately warmed our faces up again if we just basked the in it for a minute. Waves were only a secondary thing today, only actually noticeable when our boat was getting them from the side. We started out towards Akraness where yesterday's encounters had occurred, but eventually found a humpback whale much further out. It was a bit skeptical of us at first and we needed some patience before it seemed to have gotten used to a boat in it's presence and it lifted it's tail and stayed in the same spot for some time. This made it much more predictable and easier to watch. Of course the views we got of the bay and bird life this morning were also fantastic and definitely memorable to our passengers.

Birds seen on today's tours: atlantic puffin, cormorant, northern gannet, black-backed gull, northern fulmar, arctic tern, eider duck, common guillemot, artic skua, black guillemot, glaucus gull.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today at 9:00, 13:00 & 17:00. There could always be some movement out on the sea today, and if you are prone to seasickness we have some seasickness tablets available at our ticket office.
