  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

Today's whale watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: As we set out from the harbour this morning, we were treated to a beautiful sunrise over Reykjavik. Already the tour was off to a good start! We sailed back to where the humpbacks have been for the last week or so and got lucky again! As we approached Hafnarfjörður harbour, we spotted a blow of a humpback whale. This humpback was a lot calmer than the whales have been recently. It was doing a few breaths at the surface and then going for longer dives. It could have been feeding closer to the seafloor, but either way it was moving pretty slowly and was very relaxed - perfect for taking photos! Unfortunately, this individual was a little shy with its tail but we still managed to get a couple of fluke dives! After a while, the whale started to swim closer to the boat! Amazing! We were able to stay with the whale for a little while, before another boat joined us and we had to leave the area to start our journey back to the harbour. Even though the wind was a bit cold, the sun was breaking through the clouds so our passengers enjoyed hot chocolates while watching the scenery as we sailed back.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Swift winds from land and a sunny sky were the situation we were about to get into. It was a nice Valentine's Day! We sailed close to the shore, seeking cetaceans and an hour into it, a blow was seen near a harbour! It was from not one but 2 humpback whales! They were very busy feeding on the sprat that was jumping out of their way to survive the beast. We were blessed by these whales as they didn't go away from us and gave us a great show and close-ups! We could see the inside of their mouths at times even! A great spectacle that lasted an hour and after that, we had to make our way back to Reykjavík.
