CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: This morning we ventured onto Faxafloi bay under overcast skies, and quite chilly winds. We bundled up in cozy overalls and provided ourselves with hot drinks to prepare ourselves for spotting some sea life. On our way away from the city of Reykjavik we learned more about the beautiful landscapes around and what common species of whales are usually spotted in these waters. Suddenly, more and more seabirds started to appear, we could spot Northern fulmars, several Atlantic puffins and different species of gulls feasting on the big abundance of fish. To our excitement, a travelling minke whale also showed up! This individual was a little shy and seemed to be on the go, but we still got a few sightings of its cute dorsal fin close to our boat. As this minke whale was not to keen on interacting with us, we decided to leave t be and continue our adventure. A little later, we spotted some small splashes in the distance. These came from a group of 6 white beaked dolphins. Constantly changing directions and speeding fast. But after a while the appeared much closer to our boat, even doing some boat riding. Amazing way to see them in detail!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: We ventured back onto the sea in the afternoon, still some wind coming from the south east. Dressed in comfy overalls and hats, we braced the winds on the top deck, taking in our beautiful surroundings. We spotted several different species of seabirds, and came across a large flock of Atlantic puffins floating on the surface of the water, waiting for their next big catch. We saw them flapping their wings at high speeds, and very sweetly diving down below. Maybe the large amount of feeding seabirds meant there could be some hungry whales close by? Just as we knew it, we spotted the back of a minke whale! This individual seemed to be travelling, but we spotted it a couple of times more before it took of, away from the boat. We decided to continue on to test our luck further. We kept spotting for a long time, but the choppy sea conditions and strong winds seemed to affect our possibility to find more whales. As we wanted our quests to experience whale watching in Faxafloi in better conditions, everyone onboard was provided with complimentary tickets to come on another tour free of charge.
