✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The morning rain stopped perfectly in time for our afternoon tour! Clouds were still hugging the mountains surrounding us as we sailed out to Faxafloi bay. There was only very little wind and the sun greeted us after a little while of sailing. The conditions were quite good for spotting as there was only some swell but no white-capped waves. Right at the beginning we spotted a couple of harbour porpoises which usually is a promising sign. After about one hour of sailing we spotted a minke whale pop up very close to us. We were waiting for it to come up again, as suddendly a few other dorsal fins surfaced a little bit further ahead of us: white-beaked dolphins! We had definitely arrived to a good area with likely a lot of food for the animals. There was at least 15 of them with a few calfs amongst them. They were spread out all around our boat, making it very easy for everyone to see them. A few of them were jumping and one even tail slapping! There was also a second minke whale that popped up once for our surprise. What an amazing tour with so many cetaceans and cool behaviours that we got to witness today !

Birds seen today include: norther fulmar, great cormorant, eider duck, black-headed gull

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík for our tour at 13:00. The sea will be a bit rough today after the storm this morning, and we do have sea sickness tablets for those who wish at the ticket office.
