CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: We set off with a beautiful sunrise and to a spot in which there had been recent sightings of a humpback whale but unfortunately we couldnt´t find any whales. However, we could briefly see the dorsal fin of a harbour porpoise. After that, we decided to go to a place further away where we have seen humpback whales the last tours and it didn´t dissapoint us! We could see between 2 to 3 humpbacks that surfaced and blow at the beginning. Then we realised they were feeding around and that´s the reason why they were a bit elusive. They were busy looking for some krill! After that we were lucky and we could see some flukes before having a lovely trip back to port with a small swell and a nice sunny day.

WHALE WATCHING TOUR | 13:00
Report from Hafsúlan and Eldey
We were excited to head back out onto the water today to see what Faxaflói Bay had in store for for us this afternoon. With so many passengers visiting Reykjavik at the moment we got fully booked on one of our boats and so we prepared our other as well. The wind had picked up a little but the swell reduced. On the way to the whale area we got to see a large pod of about 7 -9 white-beaked dolphins. It’s been a few months since our last encounter with them so we were so excited. They were great at first but then quite elusive so we left them in peace and continued to the whale grounds. There were a lot of whale watching vessels out this afternoon and we try to respect the code of conduct as much as possible and so as we approached there was already 3 boats around the first humpback whale and we enjoyed viewing it from a distance as we continued on a little more and found another in waters just 5-7m deep. Beautiful photos to be had with the humpback whale in mirror calm waters, beautiful winter light and colourful buildings in the background. We followed the whale for a while as it ventured offshore to a good feeding area. As it started to feed its behaviour became more unpredictable and difficult to manoeuvre around so we decided to just leave it in peace and start heading back. Just then a harbour seal popped up quickly. A prefect end to a great whale watching day!!
