CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: The weather had calmed down a bit today and although there were some big swells, we had a lovely morning at sea! We were just talking about how to look for the blow of a whale when two blows appeared right in front of us! These humpback whales were not together but very close and both feeding! One of them was lunge feeding right at surface, giving us a wonderful insight in their feeding behavior and also allowed us to see the belly full of water! After observing this for a while, we decided to leave these whales and continued our adventure. Quickly, a pod of three white-beaked dolphins found us! They were swimming all around the boat before heading off. We followed them for a while and suddenly, more dolphins joined for a party of 6! They came quite close, we could see their beautiful coloration trough the surface. We made our way back home enjoying the mountains and with loads of new memories.

Report from Hafsúlan: After so many stormy days, today we were pleasantly surprised by the weather. There was some swell, but the waves had calmed down, there was little wind and rain was only a brief misty drizzle. We also didn't have to go far for wildlife today. Just a few minutes out the harbour , we reached an area with two humpback whales and a pod of 15 to 20 white-beaked dolphins! As we were waiting for one of the whales to surface, we were beyond delighted by the dolphins. They were swimming all around, interacting with the boat to investigate and bow-ride and we even got to see a few very neat leaps! When it re-surfaced they were also very interactive with the humpback, swimming around it and leaping some more. Everyone was in complete wonder. We saw a few fluke dives and even some bubble net feeding by the whale. In between surface sequences, we observed the dolphins until they eventually lost interest and moved on from us. Eventually, we also moved on from the humpback and did a little exploration loop. We found some misty rain and some seabirds, but no more cetaceans. We circled around and it turned out, we found the same whale again! We checked out some more surface sequences and saw another beautiful bubble net spiral. When we returned to port, we were amazed by the wildlife we got to witness.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: The sea was still a bit wavy but even though we had some foggy patches, we also managed to see some sun! Even better, in one of those sunny patches we found our first humpback whale! This animal was feeding and came up quite regularly, showing off its mighty fluke before diving! We then found a second whale; the humpback we know as Neila! She was also feeding, coming up sometimes mere meters away from our boat. This gave us the best close up look at them! A flock of birds was following her around, allwoing us to predict exactly where they would come up next! We then ended our tour with a quick look at a big flock of northern gannets, all plunge diving over and over again!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 15:00
Report from Eldey: In the afternoon, the weather felt quite warm after the last few windy days, we were even lucky to have some sunshine as we left the city behind! After passing by the puffin breeding islands, and admiring the beautiful mountains being the start of the snæfellsnes peninsula, we soon spotted the first blow of the tour - how lucky! We discovered that the blow came from a humpback whale, and when we arrived we saw that it was two individuals together. It seemed these two had been feeding together and we could admire them for a few surfaces and fluke dives, before they split ways from each other. We went a little closer to one individual, and saw it surface a few times, before it started diving both longer and for further each time. We took this as a sign to leave the humpback whale be, so we waved goodbye and continued to see what else we could spot in the bay. Soon, we saw the small dorsal fins from white beaked dolphins, and when we arrived it was 25 of them scattered around in a big area! We stayed here for quite some time, watching them surface all around us, and one individual even did multiple breaches! After this wonderful tour we returned to the city with big smiles and great new memories.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00
Report from Eldey: The long swells made some people feel a bit uneasy but it was beautiful weather nonetheless. We set sail and after 20min stumbled upon our first humpback whale! This one was feeding, coming up and going down immediately again. We enjoyed this hide and seek for a while, before heading to an area where we hoped to find something else. A eagle-eyed passenger spotted a minke whale! This sleek whale was changing direction a lot, but we managed to see it a few times. We then continued our way and found two pods of white-beaked dolphins! There were around 15 to 20 dolphins all around, surrounding us while they were feeding. They had a lot of calves and we could see them jumping and swimming under the boat. On our way back, we found the humpback whale again that had paired up with another one and they did an amazing synchronized lunge feed right at the surface! One of them even started tail slapping and we could hear them trumpeting in the distance. After a beautiful fluke dive of both of them, we said goodbye and turned on the music as we made our way back home.
