Report from Eldey: We sailed out in calm but chilly wind and gorgeous sunshine that stayed with us for the whole tour. It was a very good day to stay outside and we enjoyed the breeze while looking for the cetaceans. After about an hour of searching, we found our first species of the day: a humpback whale! It soon became apparent that we were in an area with lots of food as we spotted more blows from humpback whales in the distance around us! We tracked one humpback whale as it surfaced a few times and dove, showing off its beautiful tail flukes! Then we continued on our search for more wildlife and encountered 2 harbour porpoises who were passing by the boat! On our way back to land we spotted another whale, this time a minke whale, followed by two more harbour porpoises to end the tour on this beautiful day.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out this afternoon with great sea conditions and sunny skies. We enjoyed the views while we search for the wildlife in the bay. After half an hour of sail we spotted our first whale- a minke whale! This whale seemed quite elusive so we carried on with our search. As we sailed further we spotted a blow in the distance. As we got closer we could see it was a humpback whale! We approached the whale carefully and enjoyed it's company for a bit even enjoying a amazing fluke dive! We also had a surprise appearance of a minke whale resurfacing super close to the boat! We could see a few more blows around us in the distance about 4 humpback whales were in the area and about 6 different minkes! We then went to see a second humpback a bit further and got another shot at a close encounter with a different minke whale! A great day sailing in Faxaflói bay!
