CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: our morning today started quite sunny with calm seas, but as we continued our journey, people could really experience a typical Icelandic weather with strong winds in the bay! Despite the cold, within less than 20 minutes of the trip, we had our first encounter: a humpback whale not too far from us. We tracked this one for a while and we spotted a different humpback a bit further away. They both were going for deeper dives, calmly, and taking their time underwater, so we decided to explore other areas. We ended up in a spot where we saw 2 minke whales and a harbour porpoise! Two tricky species to track, so we waited for a while before moving forward in the bay. Then we saw a pod of 6 harbour porpoises, traveling around and showing off their tiny dorsal fin on the surface. Heading back slowly to Reykjavík, we tried to see the same 2 humpbacks from the beginning but we couldn't find them anymore and took the rest of our way home.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We started the tour with a very nice sunny day. When we started getting further into the bay we started feeling a strong wind from the Northeast. Later on, we were getting quite battered by the wind and the waves which made it quite difficult to spot any wildlife. We spent a lot of time looking for the cetaceans but it looked like they didn't want to show up for this early summer day. We ended up giving complimentary tickets to the passengers so they could enjoy another tour with hopefully a lot of whale activity!!!
