Tour at 13:00

We were going to start our tour at Puffin Island but on the way we were lucky to come across a small pod of Harbour Porpoises which surfaced close and many times. At Puffin Island we saw only 4 Puffins and only 1 out in Faxaflói. Further offshore we observed a small pod of about 4/5 White-beaked Dolphins, maybe the same group that we saw on the 9:00 tour but this time they weren't that playful. We watched them for a while nonetheless and enjoyed their restful behaviour. Also in the tour we were excited to see two Minke Whales but unfortunately they only surfaced a couple of times and usually far away. We saw 3/4 cetaceans we see frequently in Faxaflói Bay, not a bad tour to end the day with.

Tour at 9:00

Very calm seas today but the visibility wasn't great and it rained a lot but the tour was good. We saw a Minke Whale which surfaced a few times but I think the main attraction of this tour was the White-beaked Dolphins which jumped and was bow riding and enjoying our presence. We also saw Puffins on Puffin Island but still not as many as we hope to see later on in the season.

Birds we viewed today include; Puffins, Guillemots, a Black Guillemot a Great Skua, Gannets, Kittiwakes, Gulls and Fulmars. Then on Puffin Island we also observed Cormorants, Oystercatchers, Brent Geese, Graylag Geese, Ringed Plovers and Eider Ducks.
