 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 17:00

Report from Eldey: With the wind picking up, we got a true icelandic sailing experience. We sailed straight out heading to the same aerias where we had encountered cetaceans previously today. After one hour of sailing the winds calmed down as we were closer to the town of Akranes and sheltered by the mountains. We got to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Snaefellsnes peninsula and the city of Reykjavik under the sunset. However, we could not see any signs of cetaceans, no blows or dark backs with triangular dorsal fins popping up from the water. The whales and dolphins seen earlier today had simply moved to an other area. Unfortunately, this is what happens sometimes with wildlife: you never know what to expect. Even if you see something on one tour, it might not be there a couple of hours later anymore. Whales and dolphins are definitely worth seeing in the wild and therefore we wanted to give our passengers a second chance: We offered everyone a complimentary ticket to come on an other whale watching tour for free within the next two years.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The winds had gotten stronger from this morning, clearly having awoken, but still conditions were fine for whale watching. We sailed within the eastern parts of Faxabay during this trip, searching around the area where we had left the pod of dophins earlier today.  But instead of dolphins we found a humpback whale!!! How exciting! It played with us at first, only showing it's blow here and there. But with some patience we finally had an incredible raising of the fluke, the tail, and also of it's flippers within less than 100 meters of us. Such a sight! Happy with what we had witnessed already, it was almost unbelievable when we also had a quick glimpse at both a small pod of white-beaked dolphins and a minke whale on our way back.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00

Report from Eldey: With the morning sun glaring through a veil of clouds and the sea calm, almost like a mirror,  we sailed out to Faxabay. Not only was the scenery wonderful but after only about 40 minutes of sailing we already found a minke whale. The day was off to an excellent start. The minke whale was a smaller individual surfacing very slowly and calmly, leaving clear flukeprints on the sea surface. So easy for us to follow along. After this amazing encounter we continued sailing to see what else we could possibly find. We didn't have to search for long: after a short while we found a pod of probably 20 white-beaked dolphins jumping, bow-riding, chasing fish and interacting with each other as well as our boat! It was absolutely amazing. And only to round it off, we saw another 2 minke whales along the way and many northern gannets performing their spectacular diving skills for us. We are definitely ready for the nex tour.
