Status: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. According to the forecast the wind will be blowing from the east, so there might be some movement on the boat. If you are sensitive to motion sickness we do offer preventative tablets in the ticket office, free of charge! We have heated indoor areas on board but we also have overalls to keep you warm out on deck. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our tour!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Our afternoon tour started with a very good surprise: the swell had lessened from this morning ! We don't need no more. We had more sun in addition, warmer temperatures, everything was set for a departure in high spirits ! But our adventurer spirit was tested. Our searching in the bay was long, and our patience got pushed beyond unreached limits. On a couple of occasions we came across flocks of hundreds of northern fulmars. Their eyes did not seem to reflect any signs of cerebral activity, but we know well that their presence is always linked to food, so we trust our feathered indicators for that and double checked the sea every time we met them. Even after searching several flocks, it was not only before approaching Reykjavik on our way back that we heard about cetaceans in another area. After 20 minutes we finally reached a pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins ! They were not specially active, although they were changing direction frequently, and regularly taking longer dives. We had to hang on sometimes to follow them but on several opportunities we had them 10 m from our boat, allowing us to sight them in their splendor ! We stayed overtime because of them, but they had the courtesy to show us the way back to the harbour at then end and to follow us for a mile. By the time we waved them goodbye, we were already approaching the harbour, and quietly finished our trip after being rewarded for our perseverance.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in the darkness this morning, as the sun had risen above the horizon yet. That's why we got to enjoy a beautiful sunset during our tour. The bird life in the bay was plentiful with hundreds of fulmars, as well as flocks of eider ducks and cormorants passing by or sitting on the water surface. Even northern gannets had gathered in an area with some fish and we could watch them plunge-diving into the water to catch it. With so many birds around, we were hoping for some whales and dolphins to be around close by looking for food as well. However, we did not see any signs of cetaceans on this early tour. As always in this case we offered everyone onboard complimentary tickets to come on another tour for free and hopefully the whales and dolphins will show themselves.
