Under near perfect weather conditions we left the harbour to first visit Akurey, one of the two puffin colonies. After a short stay there we headed out and it was not long before we spoted several Minke Whales. We stayed with them for some time, however they did not seem to be too interested in us, so we headed out in search of something different. We sailed into the sunset, and an amazing sunset it was. We then came upon a very exciting pod of white beaked dolphins. They were jumping, playing and swimming very close to the boat and even underneath and beside us for quite some time. It was a very nice trip with excellent sightings and perfect weather.

We headed straight out into Faxaflói bay and started looking for Whales. We spotted a Minke Whale and it was quite nice surfaced really slowly but when it went for a longer deeper dive we headed on. We spotted another Minke Whale and when we got closer the also spotted some Harbour Porpoises. We stayed in the area but the Minke Whale went again for such a long dive that we headed on. We spotted some more Minke Whales during the tour and once or twice they came really close to the boat. We also spotted some Arctic Skuas chasing the other birds around. On the way back we stopped at the Puffin island Akurey. There were not so many Puffins on the island but still some were sitting on the water surface in the front.

We started our trip with a visit at the Puffin Island Akurey. There were not so many Puffins on the Island. But we spotted some Eider Ducks with their chicks in the front of the island. We headed out into Faxaflói bay afterwards. We first spotted some White beaked Dolphins and stayed with them for a while. We spotted a Minke Whale and stayed with it for a while. It was surfacing really slowly but when it stayed too long under water we headed on and found some more Minke whales. One surfaced really close to the boat and we also saw a white spot under the surface probably the Minke Whale rolling under the surface. When we headed on we suddenly saw another Minke Whale it was only 30 meters away from the boat. Really nice trip!!

Before we started looking for the Whales this morning we stopped at the Puffin island Akurey. Many Puffins were flying above the island and many were sitting on the water surface in front of the island. After this nice visit we headed out into Faxaflói bay. We didn’t go far and already spotted some White Beaked Dolphins. It looked like a group of 5 to 6 animals. We stayed with them for a while. Really nice start for our tour. We headed on and spotted a Minke Whale. When we got closer we also spotted some Harbour Porpoises. While we waited for the Minke Whale to come up again we spotted so many Minke Whales around us. They came up everywhere. Awesome trip this morning.
