Tour at 13:00
Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out from Reykjavik in beautiful weather. Overcast but dry skies and of course the beautiful snow capped mountains. Unfortunately, the weather took a bit of a down turn when further out in the bay when the rain started but some of our passengers powered through and stayed upstairs whilst others bought themselves a whale punch (hot chocolate and rum) and stayed downstairs in the warm saloon. We saw many birds but they were not doing very much other than flying around aimlessly or resting on the water´s surface. Species of birds listed below. Once again we were saddened that no life was found in the bay and the weather was not suitable to go anywhere else. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets which will give them a free whale watching tour that they can use within the next 2 years. Also gives a 15% discount in our restaurant MAR and the giftshop. I really hope things will pick up soon.
Birds seen on today´s tour include: Gannets, Red-breasted Mergansers, Glaucous Gulls, Kittiwakes, Lesser blacked Gulls, Fulmars, Guillemots, Razorbills, Eider Ducks, Shags and Cormorants.
