Report from Eldey: When we left the harbour, the sea was totally calm; you could even see little riffles on the water. We sailed under a clear blue sky allowing for a wide look out. Hence, we had optimal sighting conditions. After a peaceful ride of about 60 min we encountered the first pod of ca.10 White-beaked Dolphins. After a little bit of time other pods of White-beaked Dolphins joined in, so that our boat was surrounded by dolphins, some of them coming really close, allowing everyone for taking great pictures. We stayed with them for about 40 minutes enjoying them all around the boat before we head further out to look for bigger cetaceans. Unfortunately, we could not find anything. So we turned around to go back to our home harbour. On our way home, we again saw pods of White-beaked Dolphins everywhere around us (maybe even more than 100 individuals in the greater area) before spotting something much bigger - a Humpback Whale. It surfaced in a little bit of distance to the boat. Although, we were already a little short on time, we decided to stay and wait for the whale to come back up again. Indeed, this massive animal surfaced again twice, making this a great end of our already amazing tour.

Report from Eldey: Beatiful conditions in Reykjavik today, clear blue skies and completely flat sea meant for a great morning to be had spotting and sailing in the bay. After leaving the harbour we ventured out for over an hour and a half before we came across our first species, which was a little frustrating considering how calm the sea was, but the white-beaked dolphins did not disappoint. There were many, but scattered out over a large distance, with some feeding underneath circling birds and others restfully surfacing. We watched these different groups of dolphins for around 30 minutes before deciding to continue the search for some more cetacean species. Unfortunately we were unable to spot anything larger but we had a great encounter with the dolphins that left the passengers very happy.
