Tour at 17:00

We sailed straight out this time. First we spotted a Harbour Porpoise, it was as if he was there alone. Than after a little search we found some Minke Whales. There were quite a few of them there in the area but they were all being so difficult, only surfacing 1-2 times before going for a long deep dive. In between some difficult Minke Whales we then spotted some Harbour Porpoises again, once about 6 of them surfaced at the same time only about 5 meters away from the boat and then they disappeared. We then headed further out and there the ash cloud that's been hanging around today was getting thicker but even though the visibility was not too bad there we didn't see anything. Then when we were about to head back to the harbour we spotted a Minke Whale and that one surfaced many times with shorter deep dives and came pretty close to the boat which was very good. We then ended the tour with a stop in Akurey where the Puffins were all getting back from today’s fishing.

Tour at 13:00

This tour we started with a stop in Akurey, again there were many Puffins on the island. We then headed out and first we spotted 3 Minke Whales surfacing far way but they surfaced all at the same time in front of us. One of them surfaced again and then it went for a deeper dive. It came up again really close to the boat several times. During the tour we spotted quite many Minke Whales, most of them were rather difficult, they surfaced about 3 times before a deeper dive but they stayed under water for quite a while and when they got up the next time they had swam far away from us which made it that much more difficult for us to approach them. We also spotted a few Harbour Porpoises briefly and then towards the end we found White-beaked Dolphins. They were so amazing surfacing many times and swimming under the boat.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was quite nice, it was calm sea and warm .We headed out to visit Akurey and we saw quite many Puffins, some on the Island itself and others at the sea and flying around Akurey. We then went into Faxaflói and it didn’t took us long time before we saw the first Minke Whale .There seemed to be quite many and a lot surfaced right in front of the boat. At the same time Harbour Porpoises surfaced near the boat. There were many birds in the area like Lesser-Black-backed Gulls, Puffins, Guillemots, Arctic Skuas, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gannets and Arctic Terns. During the tour we also saw some White-beaked Dolphins. There seemed to be quite many of them and some surfaced and the same time. It was a amazing tour this morning.

Report from Elding: We started to tour with a stop by Akurey, to have a look at the Puffins, there were so many of them there today both on the water and flying around the Island. After this stop we headed out and soon after we got to the Whale Watching area we spotted some splashes from Harbour Porpoises but unfortunately we didn't get a good look at them since they swam quickly away. It didn't take long until we spotted the first Minke Whale, while approaching it surfaced several times and then another Minke Whale popped up on the other side. That one surfaced about 2-3 times before going for a deep dive. the first one came up again soon and surfaced several times really close to us. Later during the tour we then spotted a pod of White-beaked Dolphins they were very busy, most likely feeding so they didn't pay much attention to us but we were able to see them really well.
