CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We started the tour with a covered sky but a nice warm temperature. As we headed out we could enjoy all the seabirds flying around the boat such as puffins, northern fulmars or black backed gulls. We finally spotted a humpback whale and we could even see its fluke! After some time with it we decided to the head on and suddenly we spotted another blow! It was a humpback again! We got to see this one from very close this time. We spent some time with it and decided to head back with a bit of a bumpy ride due to the waves. We got to see two humpback whales in total!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsula: This afternoon the moody grey day continued as we started our sail out into Faxa floi. There was little wind on the way out but as soon as we turned a corner the wind hit us. Yet it was still calmer than on the 9am and we were eager to see what awaits us in the bay. After about an hour of sailing we saw a blow, it looked fairly small at first but then got bigger and we could identify it as a humpback whale! This was a very calm individual, with a few lazy flukes but also some good ones. It mainly stayed on the right, and then suddenly surprised us on the left, very close to the boat. We could hear and SMELL the blow! A lovely scent of fish filled the air! We watched it a few more times but as more boats were closing in we headed on. Not even ten minutes of sailing and we found a 2nd humpback whale. This individual was a little trickier. We eventually ran out of time and headed back to harbour.
