CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We headed out on a calm morning. The sea looked promising and the visibility was in our favor. It did not take us long until we noticed huge splashes in the distance. This happened time after time and we soon realized that this is the aftermath from 2 breaching humpback whales. This was an absolutely incredible sight! The activity continued, and they did peduncle throws, tail slaps and pectorial fin slapping too! The pair calmed down a bit as we got closer but still showed off with occasional quirks. One of the breaches happened close to the boat and one peduncle throw came in combination with a poop! As more boats approached the whales, we wanted to respect their space and leave them alone. We carried on our journey and soon found another humpback whale. This one wanted to investigate our boat closely which was very nice. After this encounter we were greeted by 4 harbour porpoises. This is usually a rather shy species but we were really lucky today since they decided to come close to us. After this 2 white beaked dolphins decided to join us right in front of the boat and a little while later we had one more. The tour ended with two humpback whales. They got close to the boat and a third one joined from our left and was actively feeding amongst a flock of birds. Throughout the tour we had about 6 minke whales passing by the boat, where one came up many time close to us. This was an absolutely wonderful tour!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey:

We headed out with nice weather. The sun was shining, in the distance was a rain cloud, so there were lots of rainbows present during the whole tour. As we headed out we saw a blow in the distance, so we went there. On the way we saw 2 solitary minke whales doing their thing. As we arrived the humpback whale was showing us it's beautiful fluke and then kept us waiting for a while. All of a sudden we saw a second humpback whale just a few meters away, so we went to this one as well. This time we saw it breathing a few times and then also showing us it's fluke, but from the backside. We waited for a while, but they both were not very social, so we decided to leave them alone and look for something else. We found a really nice minke whale, which was very curious and probably young. As we watched it, another humpback appeared in the distance, coming up only once. The minke didn't run out of couriosity, so we stayed and enjoyed him a little longer, before we left. As we sailed along we saw some short dorsal fins, beaking out of the waves, it was a pod of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins ! They were swimming around our boat and 1 of them was jumping a few times. They stayed with us for quite a while, before they slowly left. As did we, to find yet another not just one but 4 minke whales, close to each other. We watched them for a while and then left for another humpback whale. This one went down pretty quickly, showing us it's fluke. After waiting several minutes, it came back up and "waved" us goodbye with a short pec slap session. :)

What a nice way to finish the tour !

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00

Report from Eldey: This tour started off with some rain, but it quite quickly went away which was nice. After not too long of a sail we saw a blow in the distance as well as a dorsal fin from a humpback whale, so we headed in this direction. However, two blows appeared even closer to us, so we decided to go for these ones. It turned out to be 2 more humpback whales. They split up ones we got there but they both showed their beautiful tail flukes and got close to the boat which was lovely. During this encounter we had one elusive minke whale passing by too. After spending quite some time with these whales we wanted to leave them to do their own thing and we headed off. During our sail we had one very quick harbour porpoise passing by on our right. The tour ended with a forth gorgeous humpback whale that displayed its tail fluke in the glistening sunset. A gorgeous tour out at sea!
