CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We headed out the first time after the storm has past, which was hanging over Iceland for 2 days. It was warm but windy, with swell. We headed to Hafnarfjördur, to check if the whales were still in the area and we were lucky! There was still one Humpback Whale around. He was very friendly and in good spirits towards us. He surfaced quite often and showed us his fluke, almost every time he performed a fluke dive. His unique pattern on the skin makes him a real pearl, because you can recognize him out of many Humpback whales. After some time we had to head back to Reykjavik, but with happy guests and happy crew.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 1300

Report from Eldey: After what felt like endless days of stormy weather, we were finally graced with sunshine in Faxafloi Bay. The day was perfect for setting sail, and we headed out to Hafnarfjordur, not really knowing what to expect. But let me tell you—it was a whale lover’s dream! We didn’t just spot 1 humpback; we found 2! The first one was in full feeding mode, showing its fluke every few minutes. It was such a mesmerizing sight. But the real surprise came next. Out of nowhere, we spotted a pod of 4 harbor porpoises! I hadn’t seen them in months, so I was beyond excited, especially since these little guys were so curious. They swam right up to the boat, playful and so close you could almost reach out and touch them.As if the day wasn’t already incredible enough, we then spotted another humpback, this one even took a little break after its snack time. The sun was out, the waves were calm, and everything felt just right. After a few canceled days due to storms, it felt so good to finally be out on the water again, with such a perfect ending to the tour. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience. It’s always a treat when nature delivers like this— 2 humpbacks and some porpoise action? Doesn’t get much better than that!
