Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00, 14:00 and 16:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

 COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. 

Report from Eldey: It was a beautiful sunny (but very cold) day to sail into Faxaflói, however the medium swell length and height got to some of us and caused a bit of seasickness. We braved the cold and motored to an area with a lot of birdlife, and there we found a pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins were jumping, sometimes coming very close to our boat, and spending quite a bit of time with us in the same area. We later saw the blow of a minke whale, and another one, and another one - we probably had ten individuals in the area. After having followed the minke whales, we came across another pod of white-beaked dolphins who were less curious about our boat. Having enjoyed all these birds, dolphins and minke whales it was then time to head back to Reykjavík in the comfort of the warm saloon.

Report from Eldey: We had a strong northerly wind this morning but in true icelandic fashion that changed and we now had a much weaker wind and stronger sunshine! We saw a minke whale surface close to us, but she quickly disappeared underwater. Our attention was then diverted to a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins who were probably feeding, moving in an unpredictable and fast fashion. We stayed with the dolphins for some time and then moved to a different area where we encountered 3 minke whales, but each of them only surfaced once and then disappeared. We therefore decided to offer everyone who wanted it complimentary tickets so that they could see the cetaceans of Faxaflói or  Eyjafjorður a bit longer next time.
