CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey : There was a beautiful light on Reykjavik when we left it this morning. In the bay it was mostly clouded with a little bit of rain in the end. The sea was choppy but the boat was not moving a lot. We found in total 4-5 minke whales that were surfacing and disappearing. One of those minkes surfaced at a few meters away from the boat, right in front of us ! We could observed the white patches that they have on there flippers. We saw a bigger blow and went there and found a humpback whale. This humpback was going for long dives, 13 minutes at first then a bit shorter. We saw its fluke diving once and we had the opportunity to see it surfacing many times. We went back to Reykjavik happy after encountering this lovely creatures.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:OO

Report from Eldey: Another windy afternoon for us in Faxaflói! Yet the waves were not too rough for us to go out and our captain is very talented at taking the boat on the best route possible for us to have a calm sail out on the ocean. The scenery was very beautiful, it was thanks to the clouds and the light rain that a colourful rainbow loom up. The sun was also part of the adventure coming through the clouds once and again. After 30 minutes looking for cetaceans we got to see a blow at the distance, we thought it was a humpback whale, but a minke whale showed up. We were staying with it too admire its presence while suddenly a humpback whale appeared and surfaced 4 or 5 times showing us its pectoral fins through the water, probably it was human watching. We could admire it also lifting its fluke elegantly. Soon after another minke whale appeared. So the afternoon had its gleams of sunshine not only with the sun but also with the powerful energy of these amazing creatures!
