  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00, 13:00

All whale watching tours are on schedule today from Reykjavík! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: The winter darkness is slowly starting to set in now so we sailed out and due to quite some cloud cover we sailed out into a slightly gloomy bay. Luckily the seas were calm and with barely any wind we were able to enjoy the beautiful sunrise during the tour. We searched around for a bit until we ended up finding a humpback whale. At first, it was going for long dives but after some time, clearly tired from its endeavors, it promptly went for a nap right next to our boat! We stuck around for some time with this sleepy giant, admiring its stillness until it woke up again and (after a big wake up stretch) went for deep, elegant fluke dive again. We then searched around the bay a bit more but this only resulted in a quick glimpse of a shy minke whale, so we then headed back to the harbour ending our lovely morning at sea.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out into the bay in search of whales. Good thing, that we also find some. ;) In the beginning we crossed paths with a Minke whale. It was in a good mood, it surfaced often, so everyone could have a nice look at it. It was changing directions every now and then, but also did stay on a course for a bit. We decided to leave it to its business and went further out, in the hope for another species. As always Faxafloi Bay provides. We found a very sleepy Humpback whale. It was just logging at the surface, so we sneaked up on it and watched it sleeping. We could see it very nicely and up close, because the current brought us together. So we waited and watched until the Humpback woke up and went down for a dive. We then also made a quick round, to see if something else is around, but we ended back up with the Humpback. It was still very sleepy, so the whole scenario played out again. Us having a beautiful view on this majestic whale and its beautiful fluke when it went down again. But as always, all good things must come to an end, and so we had to leave for the harbor. What a great tour, with great encounters and great passengers ! :)
