Status: RUNNING

We are sailing from the Old Harbour today. The wind is coming from the South-West and is 8-10m/s. There could be some rain today and there will be movement on the boat.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out again this afternoon hoping for the wind to calm down and hoping for some whales or dolphins to show up. Our expectations were not the highest after the morning tour, however, after about an hour we saw a humpback whale! It took a while for us to get a better look at it and it stayed underwater for quite a while inbetween dives. After some time our patience was rewarded and we finally got to see a nice fluke-up as the whale was raising its tail above to water surface. After we were sure that everyone had gotten a good look at this individual, we left the area to keep searching for animals. We didn't have much more time on this tour, therefore we soon decided to get another look at the humpback whale before heading back to the harbour. When we approached the animal, we soon noticed that it was two humpback whales this time surfacing together. When we got closer we had to wait for them to come up again - it was totally worth it. Next time they came up, one of the humpbacks was jumping out of the water! Not just once, but 7-8 times it came with most of its body out of the water and turned in the air before falling back into the water. After the jumpings, it rolled on the side and slapped on of its pectoral fins repeatedly on the water surface. What an amazing end of the tout! We saw the two humpies come up a few more times but then turned back to Reykjavik with a lot of happy passenger.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out this cold morning of October, expecting a few rocky waves crushing with the boat. Well, the waves weren't that bumpy after all, but the swell (the distance between the different waves) was quite high, making the boat roll up and down, right and left, almost during all the  tour. It didn't matter, with the help of some brave passengers we did out best to spot some animals out in the bay this morning. But sometimes your best is not good enough. We saw a few flocks of feeding northern gannets, but it didn't look like something bigger was interested in the same food. We headed home, a little disappointed, but with complimentary tickets, valid per 2 years, that hopefully would grant our dear passengers a worthwhile experience next time, seeing the amazing wildlife that we have got in this Faxa bay.
