CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Our passengers today definitely got the full Icelandic viking experience! After leaving the harbour, we had strong northerly winds, making it fairly rocky on board. After only 5 minutes of sailing, we saw a blow and spotted a humpback whale! This whale unfortunately never lifted its tail, so we couldn't identify it for certain but what we were sure about was that it was feeding. It was moving quite fast through the wind and spray and always changing directions to keep us on our toes. Despite this, we were able to keep track of it well! A few times, the humpback surfaced very close to our boat and once it did a huge lunge at the surface! While we were watching it, we also saw 2 harbour seals bobbing at the surface and probably also feeding on the fish swimming beneath the waves. After watching this individual for a while, we were deciding to move away to search other areas. That's when the humpback decided to breach! 5 times! It was amazing to see its whole body out of the water followed by a huge splash! We turned and followed the whale for a little bit longer before going back into the harbour, windswept but happy.
