Tour at 20:30

Lovely weather out on the bay: The sea was mirror calm and the clouds and the sunset made brilliant colors out of everything. A truly beautiful tour. We started in Akurey where we saw quite many puffins. Then we sailed out to Faxaflói and about a half an hour later spotted the first minke whale and then another one in the same place! We saw them surfacing a couple of times, at least two individuals in the same area coming up regularly. One of them even came out with its beak first, probably checking us out! We then sailed for quite a long time, spotted a few shy harbour porpoises and on the way back some more porpoises, now a bit more playful, and then two excellent minke whales at the end of the tour. Another great tour in just lovely weather!

Tour at 17:00

This trip we started with a stop in Akurey to see the Puffins. Among other birds we spotted around the Island were the Arctic Terns, Lesser-black backed Gulls, Kittiwakes, Arctic Skuas, Fulmars and Eider Ducks. We then headed out to Faxaflói. We didn't find the Humpback Whale again but we came across an area where there was so much fish under neath us and in that area we spotted at least 6-8 different Minke Whales and when we searched little bit further out there were more of them. The sea was so calm and the sun was shining. A really great tour.

Tour at 14:00

We sailed straight out to Faxaflói in the lovely weather. After about half an hour of sailing we spotted a minke whale in front of us and it surfaced a few times very calmly in the surface before going down for a deep dive. After waiting for a few minutes it came up again, this time very close and we could hear the breathing really well! We then heard news of a Humpback Whale close to Hafsúlan and decided to sail in their direction. In a few minutes we saw the whale and its huge blow! By this time it might have been getting tired of the attention so it was a bit difficult to approach it and it stayed under water for a long time after each deep dive. We got to see it a few times and got to see the white side flippers quite well under the surface. A bit difficult but still a lovely sighting! On the way back we stopped at Akurey where there were very many puffins this afternoon and very many other species, such as eider ducks, black backed gulls, arctic terns, fulmars and a lot of arctic skuas stealing food. All in all a nice tour in excellent weather.

Tour at 13:00

This time we headed first out to Faxaflói to search for the whales. Very soon after we got out there we spotted a Humpback Whale. It was so nice to see it again, it had been a while. We stayed with it for a while, it was swimming quite fast and it stayed under water for very long each time but it came clear out of the water and at one point it was rolling at the surface so you could see the side flippers. Not so faraway from this Humpback Whale we then found a Minke Whale. It was really calm and surfaced many times for us. We then went back to the Humpback before heading to Akurey to see the Puffins. Another great but completely different tour then the one before.

Tour at 10:00

Before we went out into the bay we stopped at the Puffins Island Akurey. There were many Puffins sitting in front of the Island on  the water surface. After this nice visit we headed out into the bay. We spotted some Harbour Porpoises. Soon we also spotted a Minke Whale. We stayed with it for a while. It surfaced close to the boat and also really slowly so we passengers could have a good look at it. We left the Minke Whale because it stayed so long under the water. Again we spotted some Harbour Porpoises. Satisfied we went back to the harbour.

Tour at 09:00

The sea was calm and almost no wind when we headed out starting the day with a stop in Akurey to see the Puffins. After looking at them for a little while we headed out to Faxaflói. We had just reached the main Whale Watching area when we spotted few Harbour Porpoises and not so far away from them we then found 2 Minke Whales. We stayed with them for a little while and then we headed on. White-beaked Dolphins came next. This was a pretty nice pod with about 12 individuals together an they were surfacing many times leaping out of the water, breaching and swimming under the boat. A brilliant tour with good weather.
