CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We set out of the harbour this morning with some rain showers but also some glimpses of blue sky. Just after passing Engey and Akurey, we spotted a minke whale. Unfortunately, this individual was likely running late for breakfast and we didn't see them again. We continued on, further out into the bay. Soon we spotted blows ahead of us and found a pair of humpback whales! We were able to identify one of them from their tail as a whale we know as Jerome. They were swimming side-by-side and even came up suuper close to our boat a few times. An incredible encounter! After watching them for a while, we continued our sail so we didn't overcrowd them and then found a pod of 10 white-beaked dolphins. There were some mother-calf pairs in the group so they kept their distance a little but we were still able to get some nice close encounters with other members of the pod. We then finished our tour with aniother pair of humpback whales! One of these individuals we could identify as Neila! Neila and friend swam quite close to us in front and were so nice and relaxed, which allowed for a really nice4 viewing. They them fluked right in front of us, showing off both of their fabulous flukes. What a great way to end our tour! With 1 minke whale, 2 pairs of humpbacks and a pod of 10 white-beaked dolphins, we had a very successful morning!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: As we set sail this afternoon we were met with some passing showers and a bit more wind than the morning but this just added to the adventure! After powering through the wind and waves, we spotted some blows in the distance. As we approached, we saw that it was two blows of two humpback whales! We were treated to many fluke dives from these individuals. One of them in particular was raising their tail really high out of the water, showing off their body completely upside down! We recognised both individuals but only one of them has a name - Neila! It was great to see Neila again and she wasn't shy to show off with her friend. A few times, they both surfaced very close to our boat so we could see their bright white pectoral fins through the water. After watching them for a while, we started our journey back towards the harbour after a rocky but exciting afternoon at sea.
