Tour at 17:00
A very unsuccessful tour in all accounts, still quite rough weather, no whales, no puffins and hardly any seabirds. Lets hope this isn't the end of the summer season. But what is down can only go up. What was nice to see was the beautiful light over Reykjavik. Complimentary tickets all-round.

The wind had picked up this afternoon when we headed to Lundey to see the puffins. Not so many puffins at home this last day of the puffin season. Then we had to search for a long time to find the whales. But we saw lot of diving gannets in a big area, just amazing to see so many of them. And finally a minke whale surfaced in front of us. This one was changing directions a lot but it surfaced at least 10 times for us! One nice minke whale and lot of diving gannets!
Tour at 13:00 It was actually quite a successful tour however it all happened at the beginning. After leaving the abandoned Puffin Island we headed out into Faxaflói Bay and it wasn't long before we saw a couple of Harbour Porpoises and whilst watching them a Minke Whale surfaced just 15 meters in front of us three times. Once it went for a deep dive it unfortunately didn't show itself again. We went further out to a place were there were a lot of feeding seabirds (mainly Gannets) and many Puffins but no more luck with the Minkes, strange considering the amount of birds. But that's nature for you, very unpredictable.

After visiting the puffin island, Lundey, we headed out to Faxaflói. It only took us few minutes to find our first minke whale! This whale came up few times before it disappeared. So we decided to look for another whale. After a while we saw lot of diving gannets in one area, so we headed towards the birds. And then suddenly another minke whale surfaced just right next to us! This one came really close to the boat so we could take a good look at it!

The wind was dropping down when we headed out this morning. Our first stop was the puffin island Lundey and we saw some puffins sitting around the island. We didn't have to sail far out to find our first minke whale, actually the only whale we found on this tour. But that was ok because the whale was absolutely fantastic. It surfaced many times quite close and was rolling underneath the surface so we could see the white belly. We also spotted some gannets in the area. Very nice tour.
