CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: This afternoon was quite a special tour! We sailed out like each afternoon, the sea was quite calm with a bit of swell. We quickly spotted a blow and then saw that it was 2 humpback whales travelling together. These two were quite calm and took their time coming up, so after a few surfaces we decided to head on. Only 10min later we saw another blow, this was another humpback whale - this one however was entangled. It was a little distressing to see as it had ropes around its front, and we werent sure if it was attached at the bottom. We watched a little but as we did not want to stress the animal out more, ventured more towards land where we had spotted a 4th humpback! We were then greeted by a mini snowstorm, making it again a little tricky to find the forth one. While we were trying to find this one (which was an elusive one) we saw the coastguard come in. They brought the whole armada and then released a little rib boat to get closer to the whale. As to not be in the way we stayed with the other three humpbacks that were now all closer together, including the 4th one we were looking for. Eventually we ran out of time and headed back, now playing some christmas music and enjoying the sunset. At about 6pm we also recieved an update about the entangled whale - the coastguard was able to remove the ropes and the whale then swam free!
