- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
Today's whale watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!
CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: On a grey and windy day we went out searching for a fun day! And so, we left Reykjavík behind to go search for some cetaceans. The wind was blowing from land which didn't help create waves so the sea was just a bit wavy. Still, it was a bit difficult to be on the lookout but soon enough we were surprised by a humpback whale, that quickly went down! About 30 seconds later we saw it come up to breathe and could to see its amazing blow and going down again. It did this for about 20 minutes in a straight line, ending its course on the harbour of Hafnarfjördur! Since there are loads of fish near the coast it changed its behaviour and decided it was lunchtime! As we watched this whale several Northern gannets, long-tailed ducks and common loons were in the area, which made the moment even more special!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR I 13:00
In this windy and cloudy afternoon we ventured out, eager for an exciting tour. The wind was coming from the land, which kept the waves calm and the sea only mildly choppy. Nevertheless, we remained hopeful, and after one hour of sailing our patience paid off when a humpback whale unexpectedly surfaced! It dove quickly, but within a few minutes, it reappeared, taking another deep breath. This routine continued for nearly 30 minutes, with the whale swimming in a straight line going further away from land with each dive and saying goodbye to Hafnarfjördur. We enjoyed the whale's presence while we could but time quickly ran out and we needed to start our journey back to Reykjavik.
