  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00, 13:00

Today's whale watching tour from Reykjavík is on schedule! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: Today we faced some light rain in the morning but as soon as we started the tour, everything was dry again! We started going towards the islands, where we had seen cetaceans recently. For our surprise, we encountered a sleeping humpback whale! It was just logging on the surface, then showing the fluke going for a deeper dive. The wind was weak and good and we could even hear the blow of this one. The sun was starting to rise behind the mountains and the clouds when we went for a loop, exploring other areas to see what we could find more. We found about 3 harbour porpoises passing by! They were cute and fast, disappearing as fast as they came. When we went to another area, we found another little pod of porpoises of 2 individuals! We then spotted a minke whale  in the horizon! The flat sea allowed us to see its dark body always cutting the surface. We all had a good view of this one, but we realized we were running out of time and started heading back to the harbour. What a lovely morning!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out in light rain, which stopped after a while. The sea was quite bumpy, but everyone managed very well. :) We did get rewarded for it as well, as we headed out into Faxafloi Bay we saw a pod of 3 harbor porpoises passing by very fast and shortly after that, we saw multiple blows in the distance, shimmering very nicely in the sunlight. As we arrived we could choose, in every direction was a humpback whale ! So we ended up spending time with 3 of them, one after the other, all of them showing us their beautiful flukes. But we ran out of time, so we had to go back to the harbor. And just right before the harbor, a minke whale popped up right in front of us, giving us a quick appearance. What great tour !
