Tour at 13.00

Report from Hafsúlan: Reykjavík had a very wintry feel to it this afternoon with a fresh layer of snow from the morning. We sailed out from the old harbour of Reykjavík and headed north towards Mt. Esja and Hvalfjourður (Whale Fjord), we saw two pods of Harbour Porpoises (2-3 individuals in each) but they didn´t stay with us long. We were mainly looking for a pod of killer whales that a fishing boat saw the day before, but alas they were gone. We even sailed up the fjord, as we´ve have done the past following them, it was really smooth sailing in the fjord and we got a beautiful view of the landscape. It was more of a swell offshore so we couldn´t go far. No other cetaceans were seen on this tour so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets for another free ride with us in the next two years.

Birds seen today include: Eider Ducks, Long-tailed Ducks, Shags, Cormorants, Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Glaucous Gulls, Iceland Gulls, Snow Bunting, Red-breasted Mergansers, Red-throated Diver, Black Guillemot.
