CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 0900

Report from Eldey: on this cold morning that is more typical for an Icelandic winter than has been lately, we came across what seemed to be a young Humpback Whale east of Videy Island and had an enjoyable hour or so with him as he went about his business feeding in Kollafjörður fjord off the eastern part of Reykjavik. There was a bit of swell and rather cold but overall a very enjoyable morning.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon was a windy and wavy one but the sun was shining and as we left the harbour, all our crew and passengers were hopefully for a fun afternoon at sea! We searched around the islands, sheltering from the worst of the wind and waves and spotted a grey seal next to Lundey. Then we heard of the radio that another whale watching boat had spotted something. We headed out towards where they were and saw a blow! It was a humpback whale and not just any humpback, it was our resident friend for the winter, Banana. Banana was probably feeding in the area as they were showing off their fluke a lot and doing quick deep dives. We were lucky enough that they surfaced right next to our boat many times! We could see their whole body through the water. Incredible! After watching them for a while, we decided to move on so we weren't disturbing them too much. Unfortunately, we didn't see anything else on our way back into the harbour, but our passengers were happy with our sighting, despite the viking conditions.
