Report from Eldey: The wind has pick-up this evening, our passengers were happy to wear our overall to stay outside. It was still a sunny tour with great views on the landscape. We went at the same area than we where before with the minke whales. We were searching intensely, scanning the surface all the time, until we found cute harbour porpoises, those little cetaceans swimming quickly were difficult to see but some passengers were good spotters and could see it. We went near Akranes were norther gannets were plunge-diving, offering us a beautiful show. Unfortunately no whale was encountered during this tour, so we offered to our passengers the opportunity to come back for a new adventure at sea !

Report from Eldey: Nice warm and sheltered in the harbour but a little more wind, chill, and movement when you get away from the shelter of the land and buildings. Always good to keep this in mind when going out to sea that the conditions can be different to what you are feeling and experiencing on land. Sun was shining and we were all happy passengers. Sightings were a little challenging on this tour and even though we got to see two different minke whales and two different pods of harbour porpoises (2-3 in each) they were quite difficult to follow. We did see the minke whales surface many times though but sometimes not at the most obvious angles. We got a couple of close surfaces of about 20metres from our boat which was great.
Hopefully, the next tour more will show up.

Report from Eldey: Days like this it´s so pleasant to be at sea, the sun warming us against the light but cold wind from the north. The landscape was amazing under the perfectly blue sky. We had our first encounter fast, only 20 minutes after the departure, really close of Engey and Akurey, the islands we have near Reykjavik. It was a minke whale feeding. It was a bit challenging to follow, but there was actually a second minke whale in the same area. We had to chose which one we wanted to follow! We made our choice and had a beautiful sighting of the minke whale surfacing in front of Esja. We went further in Faxaflói to find other individuals or species. We saw a pod of 3-5 harbour porpoises near Akranes. The rest of the tour was quite calm. We enjoyed the way back under the sun with a great view on Reykjavik from the ocean.

Birds seen on todays tours include; Northern gannets, northern fulmars, great cormorants, black-headed gulls, black-legged kittiwakes.
