Report from Eldey: It was fairly swelly as we headed out into the bay, but luckily the wind wasn't too chilly. The northern gannets were out in all their glory and we were able to see this wonderful seabird perform its very famous plunge diving technique, where it flies high up into the air and then quickly turns diving straight into the waters surface, scooping up the fish of its choice then bobbing up to the waters surface to swallow it down. After watching this beautiful bird, we headed out further into the bay but unfortunately due to the high swells and a slight problem with the engines it was decided to head back into harbour and wait for more favorable conditions.

Bird species seen on todays tour: northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-backed gull, kittiwake, icelandic gull, glaucous gull, cormorant, storm petrel, common guillemot and eider duck.

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. The wind is coming from the west so there will be movement on the boat. If you are sensitive to motion sickness we do offer preventative tablets in the ticket office, free of charge! We have heated indoor areas on board but we also have overalls to keep you warm out on deck. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our tour!
