Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was not so comfortable as we sailed west into the westerly winds with the rain, the complimentary overalls definitly came in handy this afternoon. The mist also reduced visibility so that we couldn't see the landscape around Faxabay, but it got better the further we went offshore. We travelled for about an hour to the area were we saw the humpback whales, we saw maybe 4-5 humpback whales but they required a lot of patience because they went for very long dives. However, two of these showed their fluke (tail above the water) a few times and came up many times to the surface so everyone got some nice pictures and video's. We were also lucky to see the humpback whale jump once right out of the water just 100 meters from the vessel. We also saw one minke whale and a pod of 5-6 white-beaked dolphins in the area where the humpbacks were. On the way home we also saw another pod of 2-3 white-beaked dolphins. The sail home was nice as we traveled with the wind and swell making it a nice comfortable sail home.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We had rain some wind and swells on this morning tour. Luckily the overalls we offer for free onboard kept us dry and warm. The sailing out in the bay was smooth because we went with the swells. It took only about half an hour before the first cetacean of the tour was spotted. Suddenly we had white-beaked dolphins around us and it was quite a large pod with maybe 15-20 individual spread out. We got excellent views of 5-6 dolphins that decided to travel very close to us and leaping together out of the water! We wanted to search further out where we been so successful the last two weeks. When we got to the area we could see at least 2 humpback whales feeding! We stayed a while and could observe these animals for a while and also a very large flock of eider ducks flew by. At the end one humpback came so close to the boat showing its whole body and went for a dive under the boat raising its fluke while doing so, an amazing end to the tour.
